iStopMotion 3 App Reviews

Crashes on Startup - Quicktime components to blame.

Read the forums and found out that a quicktime component might be causing the problem. Removed Camtwist and now it works. Shall evaluate it properly now. Thanks.

Great with Canon DSLR!

I was able to connect my Canon T3i DSLR camera to my Macbook Pro via USB, set up color correction and time lapse. This allowed me to put the camera on a tripod and lean it over my desk for a near top-down view. I use it to make stop motion drawings - sooo much fun!

good but one thing

the camera settings are really bad the coloration is horible dont know if it is a bug or not

Brilliant

iStop Motion is a great app! No crashes issues experienced on iMac Easy to use right from the start. When i purchased this app it was for no other reason that it looked cool. Something to play wiht and see what i could do. Well, my son had a project for his 7th grade German class so we fired iStop up and simply used the iPad to take the pictures which directly feed into iStop!!! In short order we had his movie, which he got an A on Well worth the money

this doesnt even work!

ughhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! Waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!

Cant even run it!

I thought that it would be nice to use this program with my new Retina MBP, purchased and to my dissapointment it wont even load, a complete waste of $50

Good when it doesn

This program has good features, but I just had to explain to my 6 year old why he lost all the work he had painstaikingly created over the last week. He had 2 minutes of footage when the program crashed and when it reopened he had 12 seconds of footage. You do the math on how many frames he had individually captured that is now gone. I would understand that kind of instability for a free app, but for something I just spent 50 bucks on? Unbelievable.

Istop Motion 3.0.1 Terrible app and support .

Downloaded app after using version 2 and enjoying it. This version crashed on launch after several attemps of downloading and reinstall. Support took three days to get back to me and asked that I trash camtwist. did as instructed and still crashed. Finally called Boinx was told that I was the only one having the problem and that they could not help me. Call Apple !! Thank you apple for the almost instant refund in contrast to BOINX. Will not purchase from them again.

V3…Not found!

I bought the app and downloaded but cant find in my application window! It says installed in iTunes Appl store…anyone has any idea what is going on?

Wonderfull app!

Ok to first start off i am a former stopmotionist and let me tell you this app is right on most people do NOT know how to use this app for the best quality choose 1080p the quality is very professional and HD and alot of people say this app crashes when they open it probably due to their computer mine has NEVER crashed and has never crashed on all my partners using this app do NOT listen to them! get this app it is wonderful! if u want a professional istopmotion program for mac get istopmotion 3 if it crashes then u can call boinx support and they will give you your money back! hope this helps

Yeah, I completed a stop frame movie

The sale price had me. I thought I would take a chance. Please note, I did not download the trial and I now recommend it. I did a couple of hours research on the web and found some very helpful articles. I was able to put together a 15 second movie. I used a Canon T2i, and while the USB transfer works, I was told by the software that I did not have Live Preview support with the camera. A little frustrating when trying to get alignments perfect. This is a big deal. I am going to look at getting an HD web-cam to try and make use of this feature. All in all. I completed a stop frame movie. Family members were impressed at the results. UPDATE #1: Doing more research on the subject of Live Preview for Canon EOS series cameras. It appears that another software has this feature. This has been in the forums since 2011. UPDATE #2: Installed the Dragonframe trial on my Mac to test how the Live Preview Overlay really works. Tested it with my Canon T2i. It worked flawlessly. It was nice to have full control of my camera without having to touch the camera. I plan on testing three pieces of PC software - AnimatorHD / iKITMovie / StopMotionPro. This lacking feature is really a mystery to me, when other developers have the features in their software.

revised review

This app is great for folks who are just getting in to the hobby or enjoy doing simple projects. Beware that the app does NOT support live view capturing from DSLR cameras. the developers have been promising support for Canon and Nikon cameras via an update for months but do not deliver. The feature was available in previous versions but omitted from version 3. If you are ok with using just your devices native camera, this app will work fine for you. Otherwise you will need to invest in another solution like Dragonframe that does support DSLR live views.

Doesn’t handle import of large numbers of still images

Gets about half way through 11k images, then complains that it can not insert into the movie and does so for all remaining images. Switched back to using Adobe Photoshop or Premiere (both of which can handle the same folders of images just fine). Seems more tailored for live capturing and creation than for really handling pre captured sets of images.

App keeps crashing

I had previous versions of this app and had no trouble. Unfortunately this version keeps crashing when I try to import images.

Crashing form day one (current version), can’t import images

The app keeps constantly crashing (version 3.5) and I’m unable to import images to the time stream, rendering the app useless for my purposes.

Do not purchase until fixed!

As with other reviews, this program is simply broken. Running Mountain Lion, it crashes on every attempt to import photos. A complete waste of $50 unless fixed.

Works fine

This program actually works fine. I am using a 7D and I was having the crashing issue initially - that is because I had the camera set to the combined RAW + JPEG setting. Once I set the camera to single high res jpeg - it captured fine. Seems to be pretty solid - happy with it so far.

PLEASE HELP

I really like this app be I really need to shot off exspsure can any one help me?

Crashes when we try to input images

Please listen to the one star reviews. We purchased this and have never been able to get it to work. We are trying to import photos from iPhoto, and although this capability exists, the program invariably crashes.

Great! But..

I hope in the next update they make it a little better with the little twix here and there
